POLICE CHASE DEAD ENDS IN PALMER CASE

ADDITIONAL REPORTING BY Raziah ClÉ

Nearly a month after the disappearance of Amanda Palmer, police say they are out of leads and are asking the public to help find the missing singer. Although a bloody scene was discovered at Palmer's last suspected location, the authorities and her loyal fanbase have not given up hope that she will be found unharmed.

The police are hesitant to name any suspects, as a crime has not officially been committed. They will say, however, that all "persons of interest" have provided solid alibis, including Palmer's assistant Beth Hommel, the first person to arrive at the Acton house. Hommel, whose strange behavior brought her under suspicion, was reportedly seen at Columbus Cafe with a young female companion the evening Palmer vanished. Police report they have interviewed the young woman, who they have not identified by name, and she confirmed Hommel's whereabouts during the window of time in question. Others potential persons of interest including WKAP-FM station owner Jack Fox have also been ruled out, leaving the police at square one.

Forensic teams are continuing to comb the house in Acton for leads in the hopes of breaking the case. Until such a break comes, Palmer's family, friends and colleagues hold out hope that she is alive and unharmed. Her friend and collaborator Steven Mitchell Wright said that many of Palmer's fellow artists have been waiting for her return.

"We find ourselves about the house," he said, referring to the artist's collective that Palmer called home. "We idly collaborate to pass the time, making bits of art that get jettisoned into the world. But mostly, we just hold our own sort of vigil. Jason brings out his accordian, Zoe a cello, Lyndon a violin. There's nothing else to be done."
