AMANDA PALMER STILL MISSING
+ BY ALEXA WEBB ++ September 29TH, 2008
On the surface, it seems like a simple case. Amanda Palmer, aged 32 and setting out on a burgeoning solo career as rock star, vanished. The house she planned to stay in the weekend of her disappearance was discovered in shambles: blood, broken furniture, even torn clothing.

DNA testing should reveal if the blood belongs to the missing Palmer or someone else. However, the authorities have been silent on the matter and Palmer's disappearance remains classified as "unexplained" rather than "foul play suspected."
Anonymous sources report that authorities did run DNA tests on the blood and other biological matter found at the scene, but the results were inconclusive. However, other sources report that when police arrived at the scene, there was no blood found in the house at all. Absent official statement, the actual fact of the matter remains unclear.
Police have been reluctant to issue statements about Palmer's disappearance and the evidence they have collected. Friends and colleagues of Palmer are upset that the authorities seem inclined to dismiss the case , regarding it as another missing person who doesn't want to be found. While she certainly has a history for the unexpected, friends say her love for those in her life is too great to simply abscond without a word.
"The thing with Amanda is her effect on people, the astonishing level of joy she inspires in people. I can't imagine a world in which Amanda would simply disappear," says Neil Gaiman, a recent collaborator of Palmer.
And yet, in spite of the community's faith that Palmer would not have just run off, every trail promising clues to what happened in Acton seemed to have gone cold.
Until now. Last week, police recovered a startling new piece of evidence which brings with it more questions that it answers. A collection of photographs was found by a set of train tracks in London by Laura Dale, who regarded the photos as some kind of art project. Now in possession of the authorities, the photographs portray Palmer, dead, in compromising and gory detail. Some independent experts suggest they are the product of fakery, while still others think they are evidence of Palmer's death. No one can explain why the photographs were found in London a month after Palmer was last seen in Boston, nor what connection, if any, they have with the scene discovered in Acton.
It seems possible that something more sinister is at work here than the authorities are willing to admit. Perhaps this newly discovered set of baffling evidence will pressure the authorities to step up their investigation to determine what really happened in Acton-- and find Amanda Palmer.
